The 1st edition of this paper was published in 1994; it has been updated five time since then. In that, also the ideas and suggestions by the circle of users were taken into account. The parking area noise study includes the method, used in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, for calculating the sound emissions of the stationary traffic i. e. of parking areas. The traffic motions gained from extensive traffic censuses are precious as clue values for the sound engineering calculation.
